Western Australia is huge and unpredictable. More than 12,000 species of wildflowers are scattered across deserts and coasts, and almost 60% of them cannot be found anywhere else. The roads disappear into the horizon. The ocean is raging on the left. To the right are carpets of orchids, grevillia and banquoi. The air is thick with scents. The sound of the waves is replaced by a light rustle of petals. Every stop turns into an opening. Each path leads to a world of rare plants and amazing animals. But all this is possible only when you have the right car. On such trips, rental of a SUV becomes the deciding factor.
Guardians of Flora and Fauna
Lesueur National Park is just three hours away from Perth. More than 900 species of plants and hundreds of birds depend on this place. The panorama of the Green Head coast opens from the top of Mount Lesueur. It’s easy to get here, but you can only do it comfortably in a spacious SUV, where even gravel roads won’t cause problems.
Kalbarri National Park meets the scale. The 80-kilometer gorge, cut through by sandstones, is covered with more than 1,100 kinds of flowers in spring. Nature’s Window and Z-Bend are stone masterpieces of nature. Stirling Range National Park preserves thousands more species of flora. There are orchids, mountain bluebells, parrots and emus. During the rainy season, the trails become slippery, and only a rented SUV with high ground clearance gives confidence.
Northern Routes and Coasts
Coral Coast Highway stretches for 1,250 kilometers. Every morning there is a new landscape. Ancient stromatolites have been preserved in Shark Bay. In Monkey Mia, dolphins come right to the shore. The Ningaloo Reef sparkles in Coral Bay. Whale sharks appear in Exmouth from March to July. Humpback whales fly above the water from June to October. Killer whales are observed in Bremer Bay from January to April. Mount Augustus, twice the size of Uluru, rises amidst the desert and flowers. Eighty Mile Beach stretches for 220 kilometers, and its far corners can only be reached by SUV.
Southern Destinations
The road to Esperance begins with Wave Rock, a granite wave 15 meters high. Nearby is the Mulka Cave with 450 paintings dating back more than 3,000 years. Kangaroos calmly walk on the snow-white sand in Lucky Bay. Cape Le Grand National Park welcomes you with trails and beaches. Margaret River — wines, caves, surfing and the smell of fresh coffee. Busselton is a pier almost two kilometers long. In Dunsborough, whales come up in season, and in Yallingup and Denmark, you can feel the power of the ocean. The roads here are interspersed with asphalt and dirt, and renting an SUV gives you freedom without unnecessary restrictions.
Roads Adventurers
Gibb River Road stretches for 660 kilometers through Kimberley. The road is only accessible by 4WD. There are gorges, waterfalls, and ancient drawings. Karijini National Park opens canyons, pools and waterfalls among the red rocks. Ordinary cars can’t get here. Only a rented SUV or 4WD provides safety, comfort and the opportunity to see everything.
Heritage and Culture
The land of theAborigines preserves the memory of thousands of years. The Noongar people have lived here for over 60,000 years, and the Ngaju preserve traditions in the Esperance area. Guided tours tell Dreamtime stories, teach you how to taste plants and understand their meaning. Kalgoorlie holds memories of the gold rush. Albany about the wars at the ANZAC Centre. Fremantle shows the maritime history of the 19th century. Many routes pass through small towns, and renting an SUV allows you to combine comfort on the trails with confidence on the back roads.
Why Renting an SUV is the Best Choice
Western Australia requires reliable transportation. Renting an SUV gives you everything you need:
- space for luggage and equipment;
- high ground clearance for gravel and sandy roads;
- comfort on multi-day routes;
- security in remote areas;
- access to places closed to ordinary cars.
Compact cars are appropriate in the city, but not on a journey of thousands of kilometers. With a rental car, every route becomes accessible, every stop is safe, and every road is part of an adventure.
Practical Tips
A full road trip can take up to 8,000 kilometers. At least three weeks, preferably six or seven. Coral Coast is most convenient from April to October. The southern destinations are from September to April. It is better to book an SUV in advance, especially during the flowering season from July to October. Be sure to specify the terms of the lease: permission for dirt roads, insurance, additional options.
Orchids in the Stirling Range, dolphins in Monkey Mia, whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef, kangaroos on Lucky Bay beach. All of this is Western Australia. But you can only get to these places with the right transport. Luxury car rental is becoming not a luxury, but a necessity. It opens up roads, gives freedom and turns an ordinary trip into an unforgettable journey without borders.
